will be embarking upon the
Pilgrimage for Peace
December 26, 2009
The Pilgrimage for Peace offers pilgrims
a life changing new perspective on justice
and non-violence. Youth and young adults
from the Episcopal Church will join others
from Palestine, Brazil, Mozambique, South Africa,
and elsewhere for a week of life and study
with Dalit communities in India.
Though comprising roughly 20% of the Indian
population, the Dalit, sometimes derogatorily referred to as
the “untouchable cast,” suffer some of the worst
injustices of any global population. We will visit Dalit
communities and churches to learn about their struggle and
the non-violent means through which they fight for
basic human rights.
